If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things, -Albert Einstein

Looking through my goals I’m feeling a tad accomplished. Yes, that’s right, I just said something positive about myself. Which leads me to goal….

#6 (get better control of my anxiety) I am currently anxiety med free. I’m still a little unsure about this. As amazing as it feels and as freeing as my brain seems to be feeling, I’m nervous it’s the calm before the storm. Only time will tell. My dr wants to take it “one month at a time” so I go back in a month and check in with her. I’ve been working on this goal for some time, it’s nice to be able to speak about out loud and have something wonderful to say about it.

#8 (compliments to myself)… I did one yesterday. Eek!

#15 (get my teeth professionally whitened)… I haven’t yet done this. However I have again began doing it at home. I have an odd obsession with teeth. Perfect white teeth make me happy. They should be easier to obtain, and cheaper!

#45 (tell people I hold dear how much they mean to me)… I’ve been trying to work on this one. It’s hard for me to put myself out there. I suppose it stems from a fear of rejection. Except I have learned in life that if you don’t tell people how you feel and what they mean to you and your life, you may just regret it. You might not ever get another chance or it might end up being too late in other terms, and that’s not a risk anyone should take. It’s hard to wear my heart on my sleeve at times, but the regret of not telling someone I love them when I had the chance surely hurts worse.

#54 (visit my family in Canada) While I haven’t done so yet, they did ALL come down this past Thursday-Saturday and being around all of them again definitely motivates me further  to get my booty up there. They are such a marvelous group of people to be around. I had such an enjoyable visit while they were here, I can’t wait to see them again soon!

#59 (one more charity to work with) I found one! It’s a remarkable organization that helps to offer the material needs for local foster children. I remember back in my teaching days (moment of silence) a few parents who had become foster parents that would speak about how albeit receiving a small check from the state, it was nothing in comparison to the needs of a child. A lot of foster parents start out only signing up for a few months but end up doing it for quite some time, years even. Though it’s a financial burden, who’s really going to call the state and say “come get this kid, time’s up, he/she is expensive”??? Yeah…not so much. So I decided I wanted to find a charity to host an annual clothing drive for. This organization I found collects the tangible items it takes to raise a child (shoes, clothes, school supplies, instruments, toys, books, etc) and has a warehouse set up of all of it. I’m so excited about this one. I am thinking I’ll host another Tupperware gig soon then invite everyone and anyone and ask them to bring new clothes to donate. The easiest part about doing this will be clearance racks. I find clothing items all the time on the Target clearance racks for anywhere between $1-$3. I think I can make this happen, yay!

#67 (plant a garden) So the process is beginning. Not a fun one. I hate gardens. I hate bugs. I hate yards. In fact, I hate manual labor.  So don’t expect to hear happy thoughts on this one. But it’s slowly happening.

#70 (go to the eye doctor) Done! Plus I love my frames! Thank you Kristen for helping me make the selection. There were far too many to choose from!

#75 (new shoes each month) This was a hard one. Very hard. I love shoes. Oh soooo much. I did it nevertheless. Aja held my hand through the process of purchasing the $12 pair of plain black slip on shoes (using them for taking the puppy outside). I held her hand that same day through the process of her first cowboy boot purchase. Hers were a tad (by a tad I mean a big tad) more pricey than mine. According to Kristin logic, both purchases together add up to a successful shoe shopping day and I can count it for my January shoe purchase goal.

So that’s the recent recap of activity. More to come. Thank you my dearest followers 🙂 (all 3 of you, lol)
